Note the "none of which is to say that I'm intending to stay off the hamster wheel for very long; I'm just being realistic" part up there. In 2006 when the economy here seemed to be pretty good, I still took a month one time and two months the next to find a job; in 2004 when the economy was, well, not so good, I think I worked about four months total. The length and frequency of my periods of unemployment have not been of my own choosing, so I have no reason to expect that not to be true this time around, too.
