2001-02-01 00:00Back from the California trip (Big Sur, Further Confusion, and a day
trip to the Yellowstone area). As usual, I bought little at the con, and
spent more time poking around panels, something a lot of
congoers--particularly in that fandom--don't seem to do. The highlight
of the con for me was a writing workshop panel run by Pat Murphy,
author of The Falling Woman and Nadya: The Wolf
Chronicles (among others). It mostly focused on outlining and
directed brainstorming--something similar to a panel by Orson Scott Card
I went to long ago, but with a different, and useful, slant on it.
Card's panel was the one I was using as a model for a projected panel I
might do at Anthrocon later this year; now I'll have to rethink it a
bit. But, I'll have to see if I can get any stories written--and ideally
back out to publishers--first.
