It's probably the 10x zoom you're thinking of. Olympus actually makes two, the C-700 and C-2100, which are almost identical--the difference is that the C-2100 has image stabilization. And, apparently, the C-2100 is being discontinued and the C-700 isn't, so it's often possible to find the C-2100 at the same price or lower than the C-700. The special that I made my saving throw against today was $399.
I know realistically I could probably do with 2 megapixels, but I want the camera to be capable of taking pictures that look good blown up to 16"x20"--and I want one that's going to have very good color range and saturation. Unfortunately the cheapest one that meets the color range I'd like is, well, not cheap--it's close enough to the digital SLRs that I figure I might as well just go all the way.
When I have a stable job, a lot of free money, and the emotional stamina to put up with wondering "why did I do this stupid thing" for six months after the purchase, of course.
