I have, and I'm certainly open to consulting work, whether as a straight freelancer or through a recruiter. My biggest drawback with that approach is simply that I'm not much of a 'networking' type, although I'm actively trying to get better at it.
The other caveat is that the non-computer businesses I might be interested in are ones that tend to be of the "long hours and low pay" variety, which is why for now they remain merely interests. I'd still love to get my free time organized enough to go back to writing, and putting in 14-hour days running a coffee shop would likely preclude that.
