It's the start of September, which means it's going to be the start of serious packing. The comic books beckon. I need to get furniture I plan to dump cleared off and cleaned up. And it occurs to me that I'm going to need to get boxes for things I haven't carried around in boxes before--in previous moves I always carried electronics around in my car, for instance. I can do that for the move to Palm Harbor, but those things need to be seriously packed before I head west so if movers eventually come for them, they'll be ready.

On Friday I went to see a dermatologist about a mole under my arm. She looked at it and said, "Oh, that's just a skin tag, don't worry about it. Now, these three moles on your back, I want to remove them immediately." Yay. Now I have three holes on my back in just about the most inconvenient locations possible when it comes to taking care of them, I have to worry about the possibility of skin cancer (more precisely the possibility that if one of those moles was melanoma, it's still there, or another one will metastasize). And, I have to get money from my mother to extend my health insurance at least through September.

This hasn't really made the weekend calming so far.

I don't know what I'm going to do with the day other than pay my last full month of rent and go to the grocery store to get some carpet cleaner--some of it for the car (a few spilled drops of coffee), and some of it for the living room carpet--which just yesterday got mysterious green spots tracked in from one of my shoes, on one of the few occasions I didn't take my shoes off immediately at the door. Just what you need a month before you move out, right? Actually getting the security deposit back would be a swell thing.

My two other items--the Tandy 200 and the ELO boxed set--sold on eBay. I've gotten payment notification for the computer but can't get it out until Tuesday, given the holiday. I haven't heard a peep from the person who won the auction for the ELO stuff, though, and they're apparently in Britain. (Their e-mail address is, at least.)

This feels more like a work day than a creative day, despite being a Sunday. Maybe that's because I've been spending too much time in front of the computer and I just need to vary the routine. Some of what I need to do will involve the computer anyway--bill-paying and budget tracking (funny how much better you get at that when you're unemployed)--but a lot of the cleaning and packing won't require that. I should really investigate the condition of the boxes in the outside storage, too, and see if any of them are usable for packing again.

And some day--sooner than later--I'll need to spend a little money on packing peanuts and packing tape, and packing paper to wrap dishes and glasses in. (No, I don't have any newspaper lying around.)
