I'm envious -- I miss the on-the-road times; it's been way too long since my last major move.
The only advice I have to offer: be wary of rushing to your destination. If you have the time, take it! It's way too easy to see Progress Towards the Destination as the purpose of the trip and as a result end up out here without enjoying all the things on the way. This happens to me way too often, even on vacations. I have to consciously slow myself down and take more side-roads to be less destination-oriented. Otheriwise once you settle in to the new place/life, it can be way too long before you get the freedom to roam again.
