Grr.

I'm in Barstow, California, simply because it didn't look like there was anything else but desert to stop in earlier. I'm wondering if that might not have been a more pleasant choice. All the motels are filled, and I'm in the "American Inn," which would be passable if my room didn't have a half-dozen flies in it. And it's in a part of town that looks... dubious.. I'm waiting for food at a diner that's given me a Coke that tastes like carbonated sulfur. And, the wireless service is so crappy I haven't bothered to try a phone call or AIM session.

The rest of the day was great--more later--but the night is likely to suck.

Call me when you want to get together, Watts.

Welcome to the Bay Area.

It sounds quite spooky, but you've got to take the rough with the smooth. Variety, and all that.

It was quite rare. The taxi driver who dropped me off the other day resembled you.

But...but...Coke is SUPPOSED to taste like carbonated sulphur! Or malted battery acid. I mean, have you ever taken a big mouthful of Coke and then stopped to think about what it tastes like?

No, no, I'm fairly sure Coke's flavor is carbonated caramelized phosphate. Sulfur is definitely the wrong noxious mineral.
