You are so right about the creeping crud. And it's good to hear that Mac 9 was unstable; I thought it was but I was worried that it was just me/my client.
As a data point, currently my Win2KPro laptop is BACK to being very stable, after reaching a point where it had been crashing a lot. I blame/praise Windows Updates for this. This is not an attempt to "fold" you back into Wintel; I just find it interesting.
I need to set up my Mac (older machine, don't even know what it's running). *sigh* Miss Macs...
