Friday Five

One of those things I don't do regularly, but every so often I'm possessed, and when the topic is food it helps.

What did you have for breakfast today?
Coffee. Technically I'm answering this on Saturday, but I had coffee for breakfast yesterday, too. (Specifically the "Red Sea Blend" from University Coffee in Palo Alto.)

What's your favorite cereal?
Honey Nut Cheerios, or nearly any good meusli.

How often do you eat out? Do you want that to change?
That's two questions. So this makes this a Saturday Six, doesn't it? Anyway, I've been eating out nearly every night and nearly every lunch lately, which is a bad thing.

What do you plan on having for dinner tonight?
Tonight, pizza, which just arrived. Yesterday, we went to a brewpub called Stoddard's, which had both very good beer and very good food.

What's your favorite restaurant? Why?
Back in Tampa, it was probably the Tampa Bay Brewing Company--which is really the kind of brewpub I'm looking for out here: also really good beer and food, but a much more casual atmosphere than the brewpubs here. And lower prices, as "brewpub" in Silicon Valley is often a very yuppie concept! Out here, I'm not sure I have a favorite yet, but (in addition to Stoddard's) I've liked Willow Street Pizza and a few taquerias. (Including, yes, Chipotle--which may be a chain but it's an awfully good one.)

Try for the Tied House. There's one on Downtown Mountain View and one in Downtown San Jose. They've got pretty good beer, decent food and a much more casual atmosphere than Stoddard's, Fault Line or Rock Bottom. Tugrik caps on Tied House but I like it.

Who makes up the Friday Five?

I think they start at 'fridayfive.org'. In theory you're supposed to leave a comment at that site with your answers, but I don't, since I only do them when I see an interesting one come up in friends' journals. :)

"Honey Nut Cheerios, or nearly any good meusli."

As every right-thinking person knows, there is only one correct answer to the question "What is your favorite cereal," and that is "Cap'n Crunch with Crunch Berries."

There are two kinds of people in the world: Those who acknowledge the supremacy of Cap'n Crunch with Crunch Berries, and unwashed heathen who would probably do terrible things to small children and kittens if they thought they could get away with it. I had always hoped you were one of the former, but now we know.... :)
