I just set my laptop on a somewhat precarious position--one it's been on before without issue. This time it slipped and fell about two feet, bonking between a tile floor and a metal floor lamp in just the right way to slightly fracture the left hinge and slightly bend the back metal case of the screen. The screen and computer seem to be perfectly fine, but the lid now isn't--which means there's likely a repair trip to the Apple Store in my near future (probably tomorrow). Part of me wants to keep using the computer this way ("hey, you can open the screen as long as you pinch the lower left corner closed and pull it back and forth carefully!"), but the sensible part of me knows doing that is asking to make the problem worse.

Grumble.

While I accept the nag in relatively good humor for someone facing a $350 repair bill, I can't help but note that (a) comments to my messages are perhaps not the best place for such nags and (b) it's pretty safe to say that even with my less frequent journal entries since I started work, you know considerably more about how my life is going than I do about yours. You've always been quick to criticize my lack of communication, and while I generally deserve it, it is not as if you habitually fire off long informative missives that I am failing to respond in kind to.
