If your mom likes nature at all, you must take her to Muir Woods, or to see the sequoias. Those trees are simply without parallel, and it might make a nice contrast to the city/restaurant part of the trip. Muir Woods in particular is nice, because it's large enough to make you feel like you're in the woods, but the trails are short enough that even people who don't enjoy hiking or nature trails will usually be willing to head through it.
