2002-11-12 18:40Off to a later start than expected, I'm stopped for dinner at an Applebee's in Lake City, Florida, just south of the GA border. No photos today: just an afternoon of interstate driving and clouds and rain. I'd fancied I might sleep the first night in a car but I'll want a bed tonight. I may try to make it to Tifton, GA, tonight--or I may sleep here. (Lake City, not the Applebee's specifically.) I'll want a relatively real motel, not a $20/night special.
On the way out of Tampa I stopped at Indigo Coffee for a cafe con leche. Do they have those outside of South Florida, or are they like Cuban sandwiches?

Date: 2002-11-12 16:13 (UTC)The only advice I have to offer: be wary of rushing to your destination. If you have the time, take it! It's way too easy to see Progress Towards the Destination as the purpose of the trip and as a result end up out here without enjoying all the things on the way. This happens to me way too often, even on vacations. I have to consciously slow myself down and take more side-roads to be less destination-oriented. Otheriwise once you settle in to the new place/life, it can be way too long before you get the freedom to roam again.
